History of the Bpi
The project for a large public library in the centre of Paris came about in the 1960s. When Georges Pompidou proposed building a modern art museum on the Beaubourg site, the idea to combine it with a large library became obvious. We give you the opportunity to look back at this history through the accounts of the directors of the Bpi:
- Account of Jean-Pierre Seguin, founder and first director of the Bpi.
- Account of Michel Melot, director of the Bpi from 1983 to 1989.
- Account of Martine Blanc-Montmayeur, director of the Bpi from 1993 to 2001.
- Account of Martine Blanc-Montmayeur, director of the Bpi from 2001 to 2006.
