The booths and the copyright exception
At level 2 of the Bpi, three booths are reserved for anyone who is unable to read due to a disability or a learning disorder (dyslexia, dyspraxia, dysphasia, etc.).
The booths are work spaces equipped with computer stations, reading aids, specific software and digital resources. All adapted equipment is dedicated to people with visual impairments.
The booths are freely accessible by reservation during library opening hours.
How to use a booth ?
You must first register with the librarians of the Self-training office on presentation of one of the following documents:
- The mobility inclusion card (CMI – new name for the disability card), issued by the MDPH;
- A notification from the Commission for the Rights and Autonomy of Persons with Disabilities (CDAPH);
- A medical certificate (including from a general practitioner) or an attestation from another health professional (speech therapist, neuropsychologist, orthoptist, psychomotor therapist, occupational therapist, etc.);
- Personalized schooling project (PPS), personalized support plan (PAP) or individualized reception plan (PAI) for the implementation of primary and secondary support plans;
- For students, registration for the “handicap mission” of the university or higher education establishment.
- A sworn statement may be accepted when it is clear that the person is prevented from reading due to a disability or disorder (dyslexia, dyspraxia, dysphasia, etc.).
The reservation is made on site or by telephone on 01 44 78 13 54 during the opening hours of the Bpi: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. and weekends from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. .
You must specify the name of the user, the equipment desired to choose the dressing room, the date and the duration of the reservation. One attendant per user is permitted.
Please note: booth 3 is equipped with two computer stations. It includes 2 separate reservations. Any user is likely to share this space with other people.
If you have a question, once installed in a booth, you can call the office of the Self-training area. A telephone is placed in each of the booths: all you have to do is pick up the handset, you are in direct contact with our librarians without having to dial a number.
During registration, a presentation of the booths is offered by a librarian. The rules as well as the operation of the booths and the handicap exception are explained.
More information on how to benefit from personalized support in the section other services for the disabled people.
Disability exception to copyright
Registration for the booths service includes the benefit of the disability exception to copyright, which allows the copying or transformation of a document without the consent of the author or publisher. The Bpi is authorized to communicate works under copyright and has access to the appropriate digital files stored on the Platon platform.
This exception concerns anyone with one or more impairments of motor, physical, sensory, mental, cognitive or psychic functions, including audiences unable to read on the original medium due to a learning disability (dyslexia , dyspraxia, dysphasia, etc.). To have access to the digital file which allows the adaptation of the text, the user must declare himself to be in a situation of handicap and undertake to respect the rules of the exception to copyright.
